Honda Smart Technology to Fuel the Success of New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series in the Philippine Scooter Market!

Just by Honda’s mere reputation alone as the world’s No. 1 motorcycle manufacturer since 1959, any product that comes out of the company’s assembly plants anywhere in the world is sure to draw attention and generate enthusiasm in their respective local markets.

The New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series would be no different at all from the historic and long list of motorcycle and scooter lines that Honda has introduced and brought to the world.

Daiki Mihara, President of Honda Philippines, Inc., is confident of the potentials of the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series in the local scooter market.

“The New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series is a reflection of Honda Philippines’ continued commitment to provide powerful, safe, fun, and worthwhile driving experience to the growing market of Filipino scooter enthusiasts,” Mihara pointed out.

The New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series would hit the local retail markets literally and figuratively running, in terms of consumer interests, performance, and most notably sales. It has practically the same DNA as the Honda Click125i that was launched in February so Honda Philippines is quite confident that it will also be a success in terms of performance and sales given its affordability and expected wider market base.

According to Elie Salamangkit Jr., Product Planning Manager of Honda Philippines, the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series is banking on its class-leading fuel efficiency, the Honda exclusive and industry-pioneering technology, stylish and sporty design, better utility, and affordability that is expected to strongly appeal to a wider market base, to immediately make its mark in the local scooter market.

The New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series also features the Honda Smart Technology, a groundbreaking technology that Honda first used in the Honda Click125i that really caught the attention and envy of every market player in the Philippine motorcycle industry.

The Honda Smart Technology is actually what’s powering the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series to its very remarkable on-road performance punctuated no less by its class-leading fuel efficiency which is 63 kilometers per liter for its CBS/ISS variant and 58.5 kilometers per liter for the standard model based on
the ECER40 test method.

Honda has also maintained its trend-setting safety and security features in the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series including a secure key shutter, a side stand switch, park brake lock, automatic headlight on (AHO), and the combi-brake system.

In terms of utility space, the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series has a larger utility box that is capable of accommodating 11.2 liters worth of personal items or safety equipment.

A closer look

So what is the Honda Smart Technology and how did it become industry leading and pioneering?

The Honda Smart Technology actually has three main features – the eSP, the ISS, and the Combi-Brake System (CBS).

eSP means enhanced smart power. It is an advance engine technology that combines high power and high fuel efficiency with a quiet start and smooth eco-friendly engine. The technology enables the efficient combustion of the engine as well as minimizes friction thereby reducing waste. It optimizes energy output too. eSP technology is integrated with the unique Honda ACG starter to ensure that once the rider starts the engine, it would be jolt-free. It also supports the application of another advanced and exclusive Honda
feature known as the Idling Stop System (ISS).

Under the eSP, there are many technological features including the Honda-exclusive ACG Starter, the PGM-FI, the CVT, among others. With the use of the ACG or alternating current generator starter-type system, there is no reduction gears and gear meshing noises thus ensuring smooth and quiet start. The PGM-FI is a technology pioneered by Honda since the introduction of the Honda CX500 Turbo in 1982, the world’s first fuel-injected motorcycle. It is programmed fuel injection which ensures higher fuel efficiency, power and torque while keeping emission low. CVT is continuous variable transmission which has become a norm in modern scooters. It allows for intelligent low friction and vibration.

The ISS feature of the Honda Smart Technology is another Honda exclusive and the first-of-its-kind in motorcycle application. The ISS automatically switches off the engine of the scooter during brief stops and thus saves fuel. The conventional idling of other scooters and motorcycles is that they continue to consume fuel even on idle mode. The rider also does not need to restart the scooter on ISS as he just needs to twist the throttle and the engine is automatically switched on again in less than a second.

The Combi-Brake System (CBS) is the feature that delivers controllability, convenience, and the sense of confidence for the rider because the technology in the scooter gives it the optimum braking power while reducing nosedive, which is very common in many scooters and motorcycles. Because the technology enables the application of the right amount of brake power on both wheels of the scooter, shortest stopping distance when braking can be achieved.

With the industry-pioneering and revolutionizing feature of the Honda Smart Technology, the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series is expected to blaze a trail of excellence for every succeeding scooter
that will come out of Honda to follow.

Aside from going to different summer destinations, one of the most exciting activities this time of the year is shopping!

At the moment, the group is well underway in completing the collection of 80 booths, and the host of workshops that will be present on the weekend of April 11 and 12. So far, merchants range from apparel, footwear, accessories, arts and crafts, and specialty items, to food vendors that provide a wide variety of unique snacks, refreshments, and full meals. On top of the intriguing workshops lined up, a screening of the Philippines’ first ever surf film, Archipelago, will be held in the venue.

Juan Brew, which provides a craft beer brewing kit; Manila Sole, which recycles used tires to create stylish shoes; Current Swell, boasting premium locally-sourced coffee; Fledge Clothing,an expert in stylish men’s clothing and accessories; Lagu, an internationally acclaimed beach-friendly beach-blanket. Creating a Benchmark for Volunteerism and Social Responsibility: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Long before corporate social responsibility and volunteerism became a buzzword for brands and corporations, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has already made it an intrinsic mission and company philosophy.

It’s a commitment that they took on back in 2008, when they started the Give In To Giving, 12 Cups with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® campaign, an initiative designed to share this mission with its loyal customers.
“It began by taking something that was relevant to customers at the time—the “planner craze,” if you will— and creating something more meaningful that could be an extension of our commitment as a brand to giving back. What spurred out of this intention was a Commemorative Notebook that became a medium for us, and our patrons, to support advocacies in need and share their blessings. It was and continues to be the only journal that encourages more purposeful action towards ones’ social responsibility,” explained Paolo del Rosario, Vice President for Marketing of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®.

Customers were asked to collect 12 stamps and choose from any of the 12 advocacies and organizations that The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was supporting. These ranged from women’s groups, to children, animals, the environment, indigenous people or those with disabilities and illnesses. Completing all 12 stamps meant the customer could bring home the commemorative notebook that featured artworks from contemporary Filipino artists and proceeds collected went to each customer’s chosen organization. The original artworks featured in the covers of the Commemorative Notebook were also auctioned and were donated to the charities.

The entire campaign was such a success that not only was it well received by loyal patrons; it also won numerous awards.
The following year, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® introduced its follow up with 24 Cups of Goodwill, where proceeds from the campaign were given to its 24 partner organizations. In 2010, for Changing Lives with Every Cup, they shifted their focus on sending scholars to school by partnering with Real Life Foundation and their Adopt-a-Scholar program, where the company was successfully able to send 8 scholars to university.

In 2012, they continued their efforts with the iBuild campaign, which helped raise sustainable housing solutions for impoverished families. And by 2014, they introduced the Brew Your Best Year campaign, which evolved their efforts into giving back to their loyal patrons by helping them give back to themselves as well. Through this initiative, they hope to help each person in their journey towards becoming the best version of themselves.
Their efforts through the years prove how a brand can become meaningful in addressing social change.
“It’s so much more than being well-intentioned; because at the end of the day, taking on social responsibility has to be part of a brand’s DNA,” says del Rosario.

Is it naïve to expect businesses to take on a responsibility as great as this, the way The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® did?
Not necessarily.
Companies today, locally and worldwide, are putting more focus on developing a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility—recognizing how working together can make a real difference in the community, while at the same time opening up opportunities for learning, cooperation and leadership within the organization.

What makes The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®’s efforts stand out however, is the sincerity that drives their initiatives, where they have managed to uplift the true essence of what it truly means to care.
Case-in-point, expanding annual efforts to now cover a full year of advocacies.

Consistently, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® brings people together to participate in various community outreach events. “We place great effort into putting such events together not only for the sole purpose of helping the community, but also to encourage our own Customers and Team Members to spend meaningful time bringing joy to others in an impactful and sincere way,” explains Nella Lomotan, Engagement Marketing for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®.
These pocket initiatives, held monthly, are part of the Caring Cup series. And whether it’s a simple story telling event in a hospital, a physical fitness session with public school students, a tree planting project, an art workshop for children with disabilities, each event is designed to foster the spirit of volunteerism and giving among its participants.

In fact, last February 14, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® made sure to create an avenue to give love and receive love as they mounted the “Paint the Town Red this Valentines’ event. Volunteers spent the day of love giving love to children with disabilities at AIME home via a t-shirt painting activity with the intent of giving kids something that they will always remember.

TREE TOP ADVENTURE: THE 1ST MOTORIZED TEAM BUILDING FACILITY IN THE PHILIPPINES

Are you thinking about where to bring your colleagues for your annual team building? Do you want more activities where everyone can take part and enjoy because a team breakfast or team lunch is just too boring?

We dare you to take your team building to the next level at Tree Top Adventure! With a variety of twelve (12) motorized team building activities, one would surely be physically and mentally challenged.
Tree Top Adventure offers not just the only motorized zip-line in the Philippines but also the 1st motorized team building facility in the Philippines. The team building activities were designed to engage values such as coordination and communication which can be exercised in groups.
One motorized team building activity is the “Dragon Boat” in which the members must synchronize their strokes to finish the course faster.  One might also try the “Dance Revo” in which the members must complete a certain dance sequence in the shortest time possible. Take note, the group cannot move on to the next step until each member is correct with the sequence. One activity that would surely challenge a group’s teamwork is the “Team Lanyard” in which the members must join hands and cross the rope the shortest time possible. A group will have a hard time crossing if the members do not coordinate well with each other.
Apart from the Dragon Boat, Dance Revo and Team Lanyard, there are nine more motorized team building facilities that Tree Top offers.

MTRCB launches new infomercial

A new infomercial was launched last 23 February 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in celebration of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board’s 30th Anniversary.
The informercial was Directed by no other than Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes and conceptualized by Mr. Erlito “Lilit” Reyes.
The infomercial features real-life partners, Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo in a typical morning situation at home where their child picks up a line from a show and asks her parents what it means. A great reminder that parents are primarily responsible with regard to the shows that they let their children watch.

The informercial aims to challenge not only parents but adults to be aware of the media content our children are exposed to. It also serves as a reminder that we should be mindful of  MTRCB’s classification ratings.

Details of the infomercial were carefully discussed by Director Joey Reyes, Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo, Lilit Reyes and MTRCB Board Members Bibeth Orteza and Manet Dayrit, the latter being Co-Chairpersons of the Infomercial Committee.

The launch was culminated by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the TV Networks and theater operators to ensure showing of the infomercial and to continuously empower the general public towards discerning viewership and thus, among other objectives, inform parents as to the media and entertainment their children may see.

The infomercial will be aired in all television networks and theaters nationwide starting 25 February 2015.

The VC Experience

As husband and wife, we always make sure that we find time for each other. Specially with the jobs that we have, a dinner, movie date or even an overnight stay at a hotel/motel could really mean a lot to us. We love spending our time just relaxing and not thinking about anything related to work. We have tried Victoria Court and was impressed with their customer service. So, when we got an invite to attend their event last Friday, we immediately confirmed our attendance.

The party started at around 5:00 after touring Victoria Court’s thematic rooms.

Did you know that you can actually celebrate occasions at Victoria Court and invite friends over?

Victoria Court has a dream. That dream is to transport its
guests to a different reality from the time one drives into the properties
until they check out. Victoria Court has a vision. That vision is to be the
perfect host and delight guests every time, every stay.

Having these challenges in
mind, the team has come up with #TheVCExperience
– a campaign aimed at informing guests of the distinction that comes with
staying at Victoria Court. What makes Victoria Court unique? What sets Victoria
Court apart from its competitors? It is #TheVCExperience.

#TheVCexperience
showcases everything you can possibly do at Victoria Court. Victoria Court’s
goal is to own milestones. From Anniversaries to thematic debuts, they offer
the experience customized and catered just for you. Being known for having
Superthematic Suites that cater to one’s fantasy date or perfect thematic party,
why not party in costume or character. Choose who you want to be for your
birthday or stag party. If you want to be the President of the United States
for a day, try the Oval Office at Victoria Court Pasig. Addicted to game of
thrones, choose your Kingdom and win the Throne at Victoria Court Cuneta. So
many themes to choose from – Be Someone Else today.

Wanting that perfect place for a proposal? Choose from
Victoria Court’s destination suites. Santorini, Maldives, Sedona, Bali,
whatever backdrop you wish, they can provide. Victoria Court will do everything
it can to make her say YES. Share with the world how She said Yes.

the privacy of your own suite with only your friends to see and hear. Party

Relax and put your feet up. Victoria Court’s amenities include
Jacuzzis and intimate tubs where you can just forget the world, even just for

give you the perfect experience for that once in a lifetime milestone. Victoria
Court’s vision is to be THE perfect host at that perfect moment.

So, our top picks are:

1. Venice Room
We find this room very artistic and we just fell in love with the Gondola. They said that this room can accommodate up to 30 guests but this is the type of room that we’d love to book just for ourselves. It’s
so romantic.

2. Alladin
We love this because it’s the only room with a designated smoking area! Perfect for non-smokers like ourselves. This room was created for women. A costume-themed bridal shower is perfect for this party room.

3. Moulin Rouge
Who wouldn’t be interested to party at a Moulin Rouge inspired room?

4. Cirque.

This room is perfect for a larger and more adventurous crowd.
