Keep Calm and Watch Movies

We are self-confessed movie buffs. We couldn’t resist the urge of watching the latest movies specially during weekends. Watching movies is a great stress reliever and an opportunity to bond with your loved ones.

Growing up in the same generation, Migs and I both fell in love with Home Alone which stars Macaulay Culkin. I mean, who can forget Kevin McCallister’s antics to defend their home against burglars?
I remember asking my parents to buy me a personal BetaMax player so I could watch this film every weekends!

We’re glad that there’s an app that lets you check the screening dates and the schedules of the movies you’d like to watch in seconds! Imagine saving gas money to  go to the mall just to know that the screening time will be on the next two to three hours? Or worse, the movie that you’d love to watch is no longer available at the cinema where you headed?

A first and only one of its kind in the country, GMovies allows you to begin your movie going experience anytime, anywhere! Stay updated with the current and upcoming movie releases on cinemas nationwide, get the best seats and buy your movie tickets straight on your smartphones! Powered by Globe Telecom, this film-tastic mobile app is FREE for download for both Android and iOS users.

GMovies is user-friendly too! We’ve tried it ourselves and was pleased with how easy it is to use. It doesn’t even eat much of your phone’s memory.

Do you want to win two (2) FREE movie dates each week for one (1) month?

Answer this question: What movie made you fall in love with watching movies?

Who knows, your answer might win you movie tickets from Globe! Don’t forget to download GMovies.

Happy Monday!

Olives Restaurant – Thunderbird Resorts Rizal

We are honored to be invited to the Grand opening of Thunderbird Resorts’ Tuscan themed restaurant last Friday.
This is one of the changes that they have made to the already exquisite hotel and resort that we fell in love with almost two years ago.
The blessing and ribbon cutting was graced by Thunderbird’s executives which was followed by a dragon dance. Champagne and red wine were overflowing. A reminder that everything is Italian inspired.

The ambiance.

Stepping into the restaurant made us feel that we’re in a different world.

Its elegance is perfect for dinner dates, special occasions or somewhere you can relax and enjoy some good food and wine over the weekend. Olives Restaurant is not your ordinary Italian restaurant since the menu was created by an Italian Executive Chef. So, trust us when we say that they serve only authentic dishes.

Their color motif reminded us of our wedding…black and white with red accents! Having Laguna de Bay or a golf course as  back drop is just undeniably awesome.

The food.

Since we are suckers for pasta whether it’s red or white, we skipped the risotto rice and tasted every viand that they served along with the pasta. Our favorite is their pink salmon. Sorry, but we forgot the exact name of each dish. The dessert table is mouthwatering and Chef Michael’s tiramisu is the best we’ve ever tried!
The salad bar was also a hit.

The  star of the day is their freshly baked Pizza. Olives restaurant brags about their pizza having the thinnest crust and the freshest ingredients which by the way is prepared and cooked in front of their guests. It was superb! You can eat the traditional way or roll it! Eat whichever way you prefer…just don’t miss the chance to taste it.

with Olives Restaurant’s E-Chef, Michael

Their customer service.

Well, if you wanted to be treated like VIP’s…then Olives restaurant is the one for you. Need we say more?

For reservations, check out Thunderbird Resorts website.
You can also find them on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Happy weekend!

I wish they taught money in High school: A book review

Being married for a year and three months, we have been very careful with how we spend our money. Gone are the days when we would splurge on weekend shopping or spend a lot of money eating out to relieve our stress. But these alone will not upgrade our lifestyle and may soon make us feel deprived.  We need to do something. We sure have a lot to learn and we are so privileged to be given the chance to read and write a review for this wonderful book.

I wish they taught money in High school is a two-in-one financial literacy book written by Sharon M. Que, an entrepreneur who started making money since she was ten (10) and Clarissa Serina-Dela Paz who is still enjoying her day job albeit her incredible financial investments. Both do not have a rags-to-riches story to tell but they taught us a lot of things on how we can make money work for us.

The book is largely based on the authors’ upbringing and education where they discussed how their comfortable lives made them strive to achieve more in life so, in return they could pass their practice and financial knowledge even to average people.
Both authors came from different backgrounds – one who is into pure entrepreneurship and the other one who choose to invest on stocks and other vehicles… but they sure have one thing in common – they are not afraid to take the risk because they are financially literate.

Having Filipino authors makes the book easy to digest.

Here are some of our favorite lines from the authors:

Clarity is power- I believe is easier to get what we want if we are clear on what we want early on in life! – Sharon M. Que

The secret to freedom from your paycheck is in building your passive income. – Clarissa Serina-Dela Paz

We highly recommend this book to people from all ages.

Grab a copy of this book and join us on our road to a  lifestyle upgrade!

Happiest places by Zoomanity Group

January 11, 2014 marked the opening of Power of Three, the most anticipated annual festivity in the field of agriculture.
Power of Three is a floral, vegetable and agri-livestock fair.

We’re lucky to be invited to attend one of their offerings for the Vegetable Festival week last Saturday where we got to know the basics of farming and interact with animals at Paradizoo.
A parade of animals showcased different breeds of horses, pigs and cows. Gentle giants such as camels and ostriches also joined the party.

The highlight was our dairy goat experience…we never thought that milking a goat can be relaxing.

In the afternoon, we headed to Residence Inn which is about a 10 minute drive from Paradizoo. It is probably the most family friendly theme farm ever created. They have horse back riding, wall climbing, zip line and cable cars. You can also check-in at their hotel if you wish to spend more time with your family or friends.

Anyone who is seeking a slice of outback adventure will surely enjoy visiting Paradizoo and Residence Inn.

Teacher Yaya: A Workshop

To make you feel more secure of your child’s safety and well-being while they are at home, send your yayas to a workshop where they could learn a lot of things. We’re sure that they will love you and your kids more.
Here are the details:

Teacher Yaya: A Workshop
Date: February 15, 2014
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Venue: Medela House, QC
Learning Fee: P500, inclusive of handouts, snacks, and certificates

Why should parents send their nannies to the workshop? Because sometimes, it’s easier to hear the following from somebody other than one’s employers, or to at least reinforce the following:

A yaya’s special role in a child’s life
How to understand a child’s actions and not think that he is “naughty”
How to respond to one’s alaga
Why TV and tablets are not good for kids below three years old
Why and how to play with one’s alaga, depending on age

Let the #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 begin!

Since late December of last year, we have been reading our friends’ New Year’s resolutions on our timeline. Although we are not the type of people who make a list of New Year’s resolutions, we always make it a point that we try to make each year our best year. We strive harder and be the best person that we ought to be. Instead of making a list, we prefer to answer this question: If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?

We are Filipino citizens thus, we should love our country. Each year, we need to look back on the things that we have done for the Philippines…have we been good citizens? Did we practice our right to vote? Do we help our government in promoting our country or are we the type of citizens who post complaints and rants about our government but do not follow even the traffic rules or the simplest rule such as “no littering”?

This year, and as always, our gift to our country will have to be continuing to be GOOD CITIZENS and surpass everything that we have done in the past years.
Instead of ranting about our government officials, we plan to be more involved. Read/watch news and express our opinions to the right channels. No ranting on facebook or twitter!
Watch more quality films that are proudly Pinoy.
Help our tourism in campaigning for our country by posting more about the beautiful places here in our country so we could attract more tourists which will be beneficial for all of us. Deal with the fact that our taxes are meant to make a better Philippines…Yes, corruption may be rampant but let’s give our President’s “anti-graft and corruption” project a chance.
Let the #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014  begin and prove everyone that it’s more fun in the Philippines!

We’ve shared our piece and we’d love to hear from you too… If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?

Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Proudly Pinoys,
