Celebrate LOVE month with TravelBook

If you’ve been reading our blog for some time, you already know that Miguel and I had been through a very challenging year and skipped on celebrating some special occasions like Valentine’s day. This year’s Valentine’s Day is going to be extra special because Miguel is already at the pink of health.  I would love to spend this year’s Valentine’s day in a Hotel within the Metro.  I don’t wanna travel that long and deal with our worsening traffic situation.

Miguel and I need some time off and just spend some quality time together, setting aside work and other stuff. Discovering new Hotels is one of the things that we enjoy as a couple. Disconnecting from the real world is healthy and it’s not necessary that you travel that far to do it. Especially that February 14 falls on a week day this year.

The largest number of individuals and management teams were nominated this year. We’re seeing more and more leaders and companies rising in the Philippines, and they’re possessing skills and leadership styles that are at par with global standards,” shares Mills.“It has been our primary goal to promote the Philippines as an attractive investment destination and a valuable source for world-class leaders. The fact that we are finding it harder each year to come up with a winner out of all the quality nominations we’ve been getting, speaks a lot about the progress made in human resource development in the country,” he adds.

Heneral Luna is now on its 4th must see week

We don’t always come across a Filipino movie that is entertaining, moving and relevant at the same time.

Heneral Luna is one of the movies that will leave a big stamp on our film industry. This is a movie that we would like our grand kids to see in the future. The Director and the entire crew did a great job in making this film as realistic, accurate, period correct and entertaining as possible. It has a very serious topic and tone but you will not find yourself dozing off due to boredom. We will no longer go into details because other reviews already did that and we don’t want to spoil it for the once who has not seen the film yet.

We were the first ones to see Heneral Luna on the big screen. Along with a few senior citizens, you can really count the number of people inside the movie house. The little voices inside our heads are saying “Oh, our country still have 16 patriots and 14 of them are Seniors”. Cool. We all enjoyed the masterpiece and gave it a standing ovation as it ends. We just felt sad that the population who needs to see this epic film is more interested in infidelity movies.

When the news came out that movie houses are taking out Heneral Luna from their cinemas, a lot of people got upset because we firmly believe that this Biopic really deserves a chance to be seen by many. Good thing that good reviews started pouring in and discussions were started all over social media. Finally, Heneral Luna is getting the attention.

Now. Heneral Luna is on its 4th week, and we can still hear a lot of people wanting to see it. This masterpiece has now reached its goal of earning Php200M to seal the deal for a sequel. So expect another movie that is worth our time and money.

One last thing. STOP BUYING BOOTLEG COPIES OF HENERAL LUNA YOU CHEAPSKATES!!!

Experience the Extreme at Tree Top Adventure

Sick of the same old team buildings which the only result is a protruding belly because of too much alcohol?

Change the way you spend your summer team buildings by trying the first motorized team building facility in the Philippines.

March 21st, Saturday, Tree Top Adventure Subic Bay, held its second press conference with social influencers joined by the local media. The press conference and ribbon cutting was graced by the CEO of Tree Top Adventure, Ms. Camille Montejo.

After the press conference, we were given the privilege to try some of the team building activities. We were surprised to experience how effective the team building facilities are. Results can be measured so it’ll be easier to gauge each team’s performance based on their skill, agility, stamina, patience and of course, team work.

Our group came to Treetop Adventure as 5 complete strangers but came home as good friends. That’s the testimony of how effective this team building facility is.

Here are some of the activities that we tried.

Team Cycling

Team must cycle their way through a computer-generated course, consisting of climbs and drops. A team leader can be assigned to help finish the race, either against time or against another team.

Multi-Line Traverse

Team members must cross the bridges using only the ropes provided the shortest time possible. Strategy is important to ensure everyone gets across.

Team See-Saw

Team members must balance themselves on top of a giant see-saw the shortest time possible. They must figure out the right spacing that would balance the differences in their weights.

Dance Revo

Team members must complete a certain dance sequence the shortest time possible. Synchronized steps result to a faster time. A team leader can be assigned to ensure the dance moves are done properly.

Tree Top Adventure seeks to promote team work through various activities. Their activities were designed to engage values (ie. patience, coordination, communication, etc.). which can be best exercised in groups comprised of members such as office mates, team mates, orgmates, or even just your barkada.

These activities are presented as packages you can choose from. Both packages are inclusive of facilitators and Team Building kits.

1.) Php 800.00/head     – 8 activities (any combination)
2.) Php 1,200.00          – 12 activities + meals

List of Activities (12):
Spike Valley, Dance Revo, Team Cycling, Dragonboat, Loop Lift, Team See-saw, Gem Drop, Bar Balancer, Multi-line Traverse, Team lanyard, Centepede Pedal and Team Wall.

Before the day ends, we tried several extreme activities also being offered at Tree Top Adventure.

Superman

If you’re at Tree Top Adventure, you shouldn’t miss trying the first motorized zip line in Asia that can travel back and forth.

Canopy

Take a tour into the woods by riding the canopy.

Silver surfer

Swing with your buddy and take pictures of the forest safely with the Silver surfer

He makes it look really easy

Overcome your fear of heights with this heart stopping Tree drop.

By the end of the year, Tree top adventure will add ten more exciting activities to satisfy your craving for the extreme.

Around the area are also barracks from the old naval base.

There are more than 50 of these around the camp that will be renovated and converted into comfy rooms to accommodate guest.

Armada Hotel Manila

We checked in at Armada Hotel Manila last December 13 as an extended wedding anniversary celebration. We have read good feedback about the hotel and decided that we should try it for ourselves. Armada hotel is a 3 year old hotel located at the heart of Manila. Room rates were just about right and the fact that we got it for a lower price just added excitement.

DSC_0232_wm
We checked in at 2pm and we were welcomed by this receptionist who is a little too stiff for her job. Well, we just let it slide because she was the only person who lacks customer service skills. The rest of their staff are courteous.
Everything seemed okay. The room is spacious, the hotel is near commercial establishments and they have a decent restaurant at the ground floor.
 DSC_0230_wm
The bed is soft at the right places and the compliments are at par with higher end hotels
DSC_0224_wm
Their standard room is much being that those of other hotels in the Metro and because the hotel is fairly new, there were no unnecessary smell or dirt. Their lounge area will kind of give you the feeling that maybe the rooms are not as big as how it looks like in the photos. Although our hotel room was not as posh as other hotel rooms, I still like the cozy feel. You still get the R&R feels.
 DSC_0261_wm
We were upgraded to a bigger room when we had some minor issues with our bed and it was done really fast even if it was already 2:00 in the morning.
We were able to relax despite the room transfer. I think it was one of their suites because it almost doubled the size of our previous room and there was a mini kitchen too. Pretty cool. I can probably stay there for a week.
At 6:30AM, we went down to eat breakfast which was included on our hotel accommodation. I must say that their breakfast buffet is pretty impressive. They do not have too many choices but I think that is okay for a breakfast buffet plus Armada is not a five star hotel. Their service at the resto needs improvement tho. We were asked for our room number three times by three different people. Maybe, they lack coordination.
DSC_0234_wm
DSC_0236_wm
After breakfast, we went to their roof deck to check out the pool. Pool was pretty okay too even if the views are blocked by taller buildings around the area.
I would rate this hotel as 8/10 and I have recommended them to our friends as well. The hotel itself is okay. They just need to improve their customer service. We will definitely come back.

Here’s a 360 virtual tour of Armada Hotel.

The use of this 360° virtual tour of Armada Hotel Manila is authorized by Traveloka.
