Celebrate LOVE month with TravelBook

If you’ve been reading our blog for some time, you already know that Miguel and I had been through a very challenging year and skipped on celebrating some special occasions like Valentine’s day. This year’s Valentine’s Day is going to be extra special because Miguel is already at the pink of health.  I would love to spend this year’s Valentine’s day in a Hotel within the Metro.  I don’t wanna travel that long and deal with our worsening traffic situation.

Miguel and I need some time off and just spend some quality time together, setting aside work and other stuff. Discovering new Hotels is one of the things that we enjoy as a couple. Disconnecting from the real world is healthy and it’s not necessary that you travel that far to do it. Especially that February 14 falls on a week day this year.

Pacific Cebu Resort – An Island Paradise

Before summer officially end, let me share with you my birthday celebration in Cebu last March. We rented a Condo Unit via AirBNB for 5 days at the IT Center in hopes being able to visit a lot of places in Cebu but we had to ditch our plans because Migs was not feeling well. Good thing, we did not pay for a tour because either our money will be wasted or Migs condition will worsen. We just enjoyed exploring the City. We were able to visit the Magellan’s cross, Sto. Nino Church, Sugbo Mercado and explored few restaurants inside the IT Park. We also enjoyed cooking our favorite dishes from their local market and was even able to buy few kilos of dried squids, fish and of course dried mangoes. We crossed out our plans of going to Bantayan Island and Bohol because of the travel time and just decided to do a last minute booking at Pacific Cebu Resort. I am happy that I was able to book a hotel through my favorite hotel app – Hotel Quickly! Hotel Quickly’s very helpful because you can see actual photos and feedback of a hotel. So, you don’t need to do extensive research when you’re trying to book one ( I am not paid to promote Hotel Quickly – I just love them! LOL).

It took us 30 minutes to book a cab going to Pacific Cebu Resort because none of the Grab Taxi Drivers would pick us up. Travel time from Cebu IT center to Suba-basbas, Lapu-Lapu City is an hour and Cab meter was Php380 but we paid Php500 because our Cab driver is really nice. He was even surprised that we refused to accept change.

We were welcomed by Pacific Cebu Resort’s staff with sweet smiles and confirming my reservation was easy breezy. The beach is so inviting! I wanted to drop our things to our room and head to the beach immediately. When we entered our room, I suddenly changed my mind about heading to the beach right away. Our room was so cozy and has a cute veranda where we could eat or just hang out. We took a power nap and went out to check their resto’s menu at 4:00 PM. By the way, they have a reliable wi-fi connection too. So, this resort is also  ideal for free lancers.

There were only few guests at the resort and 90% were Japanese. We were told by one of the staff that the resort used to be exclusive for Japanese guests. I’m glad they opened it for everyone. Pacific Cebu resort is a perfect diving spot according to their guests but they also have two swimming pools for other guests to enjoy.

We were lucky to be able to book a room on a weekend and enjoyed not just the view of the ocean and good food. There was also an acoustic show while we were having dinner.

I would say that our stay at Pacific Cebu resort is the best part of our Cebu vacation and we promise to come back once Migs is back on his feet.

Top 5 Reasons Why We Love Subic Bay Travelers Hotel

If you’re planning an R&R at Subic, you may consider booking a room at Subic Bay Travelers Hotel. If you’re wondering why, read on to know our top 5 reasons why we love and recommend this hotel.

photo from Subic Bay Travelers Hotel’s facebook page

1. The staff at Subic Bay Travelers Hotel know what customer service means. We never encountered even a single employee who isn’t carrying a big smile during our stay. We felt like we were VIPs. Their Tip Box tell so much about their service.

2. Subic Bay Traveler’s Hotel is SMOKE-FREE. We hate sheets or curtains that smells funky because of nicotine.

3. They serve good food. We’ve tried almost everything on their breakfast buffet and we left with happy tummies and empty plates. We also love the idea of eating breakfast by the pool side.

4. They are near restaurants and Duty Free shops! You can try out nearby restaurants if you feel like exploring and oh, you can walk from your hotel room towards Royal Duty Free and shop til you drop!
We recommend trying Hot Shots Burgers located right across the hotel.

5. Their rooms are spacious. Who wouldn’t want to stay in a room where you can move freely?

Experience the Extreme at Tree Top Adventure

Sick of the same old team buildings which the only result is a protruding belly because of too much alcohol?

Change the way you spend your summer team buildings by trying the first motorized team building facility in the Philippines.

March 21st, Saturday, Tree Top Adventure Subic Bay, held its second press conference with social influencers joined by the local media. The press conference and ribbon cutting was graced by the CEO of Tree Top Adventure, Ms. Camille Montejo.

After the press conference, we were given the privilege to try some of the team building activities. We were surprised to experience how effective the team building facilities are. Results can be measured so it’ll be easier to gauge each team’s performance based on their skill, agility, stamina, patience and of course, team work.

Our group came to Treetop Adventure as 5 complete strangers but came home as good friends. That’s the testimony of how effective this team building facility is.

Here are some of the activities that we tried.

Team Cycling

Team must cycle their way through a computer-generated course, consisting of climbs and drops. A team leader can be assigned to help finish the race, either against time or against another team.

Multi-Line Traverse

Team members must cross the bridges using only the ropes provided the shortest time possible. Strategy is important to ensure everyone gets across.

Team See-Saw

Team members must balance themselves on top of a giant see-saw the shortest time possible. They must figure out the right spacing that would balance the differences in their weights.

Dance Revo

Team members must complete a certain dance sequence the shortest time possible. Synchronized steps result to a faster time. A team leader can be assigned to ensure the dance moves are done properly.

Tree Top Adventure seeks to promote team work through various activities. Their activities were designed to engage values (ie. patience, coordination, communication, etc.). which can be best exercised in groups comprised of members such as office mates, team mates, orgmates, or even just your barkada.

These activities are presented as packages you can choose from. Both packages are inclusive of facilitators and Team Building kits.

1.) Php 800.00/head     – 8 activities (any combination)
2.) Php 1,200.00          – 12 activities + meals

List of Activities (12):
Spike Valley, Dance Revo, Team Cycling, Dragonboat, Loop Lift, Team See-saw, Gem Drop, Bar Balancer, Multi-line Traverse, Team lanyard, Centepede Pedal and Team Wall.

Before the day ends, we tried several extreme activities also being offered at Tree Top Adventure.

Superman

If you’re at Tree Top Adventure, you shouldn’t miss trying the first motorized zip line in Asia that can travel back and forth.

Canopy

Take a tour into the woods by riding the canopy.

Silver surfer

Swing with your buddy and take pictures of the forest safely with the Silver surfer

He makes it look really easy

Overcome your fear of heights with this heart stopping Tree drop.

By the end of the year, Tree top adventure will add ten more exciting activities to satisfy your craving for the extreme.

Around the area are also barracks from the old naval base.

There are more than 50 of these around the camp that will be renovated and converted into comfy rooms to accommodate guest.

Olives Restaurant – Thunderbird Resorts Rizal

We are honored to be invited to the Grand opening of Thunderbird Resorts’ Tuscan themed restaurant last Friday.
This is one of the changes that they have made to the already exquisite hotel and resort that we fell in love with almost two years ago.
The blessing and ribbon cutting was graced by Thunderbird’s executives which was followed by a dragon dance. Champagne and red wine were overflowing. A reminder that everything is Italian inspired.

The ambiance.

Stepping into the restaurant made us feel that we’re in a different world.

Its elegance is perfect for dinner dates, special occasions or somewhere you can relax and enjoy some good food and wine over the weekend. Olives Restaurant is not your ordinary Italian restaurant since the menu was created by an Italian Executive Chef. So, trust us when we say that they serve only authentic dishes.

Their color motif reminded us of our wedding…black and white with red accents! Having Laguna de Bay or a golf course as  back drop is just undeniably awesome.

The food.

Since we are suckers for pasta whether it’s red or white, we skipped the risotto rice and tasted every viand that they served along with the pasta. Our favorite is their pink salmon. Sorry, but we forgot the exact name of each dish. The dessert table is mouthwatering and Chef Michael’s tiramisu is the best we’ve ever tried!
The salad bar was also a hit.

The  star of the day is their freshly baked Pizza. Olives restaurant brags about their pizza having the thinnest crust and the freshest ingredients which by the way is prepared and cooked in front of their guests. It was superb! You can eat the traditional way or roll it! Eat whichever way you prefer…just don’t miss the chance to taste it.

with Olives Restaurant’s E-Chef, Michael

Their customer service.

Well, if you wanted to be treated like VIP’s…then Olives restaurant is the one for you. Need we say more?

For reservations, check out Thunderbird Resorts website.
You can also find them on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Happy weekend!

Let the #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 begin!

Since late December of last year, we have been reading our friends’ New Year’s resolutions on our timeline. Although we are not the type of people who make a list of New Year’s resolutions, we always make it a point that we try to make each year our best year. We strive harder and be the best person that we ought to be. Instead of making a list, we prefer to answer this question: If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?

We are Filipino citizens thus, we should love our country. Each year, we need to look back on the things that we have done for the Philippines…have we been good citizens? Did we practice our right to vote? Do we help our government in promoting our country or are we the type of citizens who post complaints and rants about our government but do not follow even the traffic rules or the simplest rule such as “no littering”?

This year, and as always, our gift to our country will have to be continuing to be GOOD CITIZENS and surpass everything that we have done in the past years.
Instead of ranting about our government officials, we plan to be more involved. Read/watch news and express our opinions to the right channels. No ranting on facebook or twitter!
Watch more quality films that are proudly Pinoy.
Help our tourism in campaigning for our country by posting more about the beautiful places here in our country so we could attract more tourists which will be beneficial for all of us. Deal with the fact that our taxes are meant to make a better Philippines…Yes, corruption may be rampant but let’s give our President’s “anti-graft and corruption” project a chance.
Let the #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014  begin and prove everyone that it’s more fun in the Philippines!

We’ve shared our piece and we’d love to hear from you too… If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?

Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Proudly Pinoys,

Merry Christmas!

We almost spent Christmas in Baguio, if it wasn’t because of a Grinch. Haha! But hey, it’s Christmas day so we’d rather focus on positive vibes and the beautiful memories that we’d like to share with you. Last Saturday,we left our car in Manila so we could fully experience how if feels to literally be “back-packers”.
Christmas traffic and the people who went cray-cray over travelling to different places including our destination were lined up at Victory Liner Bus Terminal buying tickets. The earliest trip available for us is at 12:20PM but we got their around 8:00 so we had to check-in at the nearest econotel to catch some sleep and freshen up before our trip. Glad we discovered Grand Prix Econotel! The place was clean and it’s very affordable.

Due to the heavy traffic in Tarlac and La Union, we reached Baguio City after an 8 hour trip.
We went to Microtel to to check for an available room and avail our 30% off discount from Enjoy Philippines but they’re already fully booked for the night. So, we decided to have dinner first at Te Quiero Tapas Bar which is just right outside Microtel. They offer buffet for only Php350!

Every hotel that we walked-in was fully booked! But thank heavens to Manong guard who lead us to City Light Hotel. Although the staff wasn’t so friendly, we had no choice but to book their available room which was located at their 4th basement. Our room was clean and big but we could hear noises from nearby establishments, vehicles and that (aaarhh) generator of some sort. But we were too tired that we slept for almost 10 hours! Haha! We almost didn’t make it to our free breakfast buffet.

Day 2, we headed to Session Road. to look for a clean and affordable hotel. But every hotel that offers an overnight stay for less than Php 2000 is just not appealing to us. Instead of going back to City Light Hotel, we followed our cab driver’s advise to check out one of the newest hotels in town, City Center Hotel

Horaaay!

Their room rate is just the same as City Light Hotel’s. The only difference is that their rooms are smaller and their accommodation doesn’t come with a free breakfast. But a safe box, free Wifi, and a cafe that offers cheap yet good pastries are some of the things that we love about City Center Hotel.

Their staff is nice too! Their location is near Baguio’s tourists spots, so if you do not have a car, you can either walk or take a cab (cabbies in  Baguio give exact change!). This hotel is only a few blocks away from Burnham Park where you shouldn’t miss a strip where they sell cheap and yummy roasted chicken!

Magkano pedicure?

random people playing chess at the Burnham Park

Right across Burnham Park is old building filled with different shops of pre-loved clothes, shoes and even toys! Dust is just all over the place so, we don’t suggest that you bring your kids with you. Also not a good spot for people with allergies and asthma.

In the afternoon, we went to The Botanical garden. We love nature and we just couldn’t help but take few shots of the beautiful flowers.

After our visit to the Botanical garden, we headed to Good Shepherd to buy some goodies as present for our loved ones. Good Shepherd is located right beside Mines View Park. Sure there are many Good Shepherd goodies being sold at stalls or even in Baguio Public Market but they are a bit over priced and their stocks are limited. So, if you’re heading to Baguio make sure to take a short trip to Good Shepherd.

Ang ka love team ng alpha male

We went back to our hotel to unload and take a quick shower for our dinner! Wohoo! Finally, we got to experience 50’s Diner! We were overwhelmed with their serving and we feel sorry for not finishing our meal.

After dinner, we asked the cab driver to drop us off at Harrison road where the famous night market is. Our intention was to shop but we were totally surprised with their overly priced selection of used items (P2200 for a pair of used Sneakers?)! They must be out of their minds.

So,we just decided to grab coffee at Mc Donald’s Session Road and head to our hotel and take some rest. It was indeed a very long day!

We feel sorry for leaving Baguio too soon but the trip is one of the most memorable activities that we had as husband and wife. We’re looking forward for more fun and exciting trips for the coming year.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Pinto Art Museum

Hey, guys!

When was the last time you visited a museum? We were supposed to dine at Pinto Cafe last November 3, 2013 but we were told that the Cafe staff has yet to come back from their long weekend. Too bad because we were both looking forward to enjoying an afternoon tea set from Bizu

But because we don’t want to waste our time, we just explored the museum and decided to eat somewhere else. We didn’t have regrets! This museum is well-designed,spacious with just enough art pieces to ogle at. For only an entrance fee of Php150.00, it’s worth it. They have chairs outside where guests can read books or simply enjoy the beauty of nature.

This is also a beautiful place for engagement photo shoots or for intimate Weddings. The staff is nice too!

There’s only one thing that we didn’t like…mosquitoes!Pinto Art Museum should really pay attention to this. They got a lot of water lilies! Sure, they look pretty but stagnant water are perfect for breeding mosquitoes! So, don’t forget to have your mosquito patch or mosquito repellent lotion when you visit this museum! Better safe than sorry, right?
But still, this is definitely a great place to visit in Antipolo City!

Pinto Museum is located at 1, Sierra Madre St., Grand Heights, Antipolo City.
