We booked a hotel room at Green Sun last September 28 – 29 when I attended an event in Makati. As you all know, I am a first-time-mom and since I work from home, I do not have an idea how it feels to be separated from my son even just for an hour. Hotels in Makati are quite pricey so we had to look for an affordable but clean and child-friendly hotel. After searching through our favorite hotel booking apps and checking out different hotels’ Facebook reviews, we decided to spend a night at Green Sun.
As soon as we reached the hotel, we were immediately greeted and assisted by their security personnel. Although no bell cart was available, one of their staff still offered to carry our bags.
We booked their Deluxe room that comes with a Queen size bed, television, mini-fridge, hair dryer and an electric kettle. Just exactly what we needed for a short stay. Our room was clean – no traces of cigarette smoke. We just find the bathroom a bit small especially the space for the toilet bowl. The Hotel rooms have different artworks that make each one unique.
This hotel is definitely for art lovers! Aside from enjoying your room, you may also opt to spend some time checking out the beautiful art pieces at the lounge.
Our room comes with a breakfast buffet but we couldn’t wait until the next morning to try their food so we didn’t waste any time and hit Soma Bistro for some snacks. Unfortunately, their bibingka is not available. We got turon, pancit canton and palabok instead. Price is just about right considering that you’re eating in a bistro inside a hotel. Their bistro’s staff were very courteous. I forgot to bring my nursing cover and had to breastfeed my baby. None of them gave me a “duh” look, called our attention or stare. I felt secure breastfeeding my son in public because I never felt judged.
The following morning, we got to try their breakfast buffet. For a small bistro, I like that they only have few food choices. I just noticed that they do not serve bacon.
My son’s first staycation didn’t happen in a 5-Star Hotel. But Green Sun gave us one of the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. We are definitely coming back!
Green Sun is located at 2285 Chino Roces Avenue (Pasong Tamo Extension), Makati City.
Do you already have plans for the Holidays? If you are still looking for a place to stay or dine this Christmas and New Year’s eve, you might want to consider Intercontinental Manila before they finally close their doors for good.
Why Intercontinental Manila?
Aside from the fact that they will no longer be operating after the 31st of December, we’ll love to give you some ideas on why InterCon Manila should be your home for the holidays. As most of us know, the designer of the Intercontinental Manila is non other than national artist Leandro Locsin. So, expect that the Hotel’s design is world class.
Intercontinental Hotel is Makati’s first five star hotel so, rest assured that they will be treating you like a VIP. When we checked in last weekend for our anniversary, the hotel staff are still very warm and accommodating. You wouldn’t even think that the hotel is closing down because everyone seems happy.
It is literally like a home away from home! Everyone seems to know you and are happy to be of service.
The Jeepney is known for their good food. They also cater food to vegans and those who prefer Halal. So yes, everyone is welcome!
You also wouldn’t want to miss being pampered by a Hotel who is already a part of our history. They wouldn’t last for 46 years if they didn’t do a good job.
You think five star hotels are too expensive? Check out their website and connect with their live chat support staff. We only paid Php8,500 (inclusive of tax) for a luxurious weekend. We availed their Christmas package wherein we were able to book our second night for a whopping 50% off and that package includes breakfasts buffet for two.
Intercontinental Hotel is located at 1 Ayala Ave., Makati City.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
If you’re planning an R&R at Subic, you may consider booking a room at Subic Bay Travelers Hotel. If you’re wondering why, read on to know our top 5 reasons why we love and recommend this hotel.
|photo from Subic Bay Travelers Hotel’s facebook page
1. The staff at Subic Bay Travelers Hotel know what customer service means. We never encountered even a single employee who isn’t carrying a big smile during our stay. We felt like we were VIPs. Their Tip Box tell so much about their service.
2. Subic Bay Traveler’s Hotel is SMOKE-FREE. We hate sheets or curtains that smells funky because of nicotine.
3. They serve good food. We’ve tried almost everything on their breakfast buffet and we left with happy tummies and empty plates. We also love the idea of eating breakfast by the pool side.
4. They are near restaurants and Duty Free shops! You can try out nearby restaurants if you feel like exploring and oh, you can walk from your hotel room towards Royal Duty Free and shop til you drop!
We recommend trying Hot Shots Burgers located right across the hotel.
5. Their rooms are spacious. Who wouldn’t want to stay in a room where you can move freely?

We checked in at Armada Hotel Manila last December 13 as an extended wedding anniversary celebration. We have read good feedback about the hotel and decided that we should try it for ourselves. Armada hotel is a 3 year old hotel located at the heart of Manila. Room rates were just about right and the fact that we got it for a lower price just added excitement.
We checked in at 2pm and we were welcomed by this receptionist who is a little too stiff for her job. Well, we just let it slide because she was the only person who lacks customer service skills. The rest of their staff are courteous.
Everything seemed okay. The room is spacious, the hotel is near commercial establishments and they have a decent restaurant at the ground floor.
The bed is soft at the right places and the compliments are at par with higher end hotels
Their standard room is much being that those of other hotels in the Metro and because the hotel is fairly new, there were no unnecessary smell or dirt. Their lounge area will kind of give you the feeling that maybe the rooms are not as big as how it looks like in the photos. Although our hotel room was not as posh as other hotel rooms, I still like the cozy feel. You still get the R&R feels.
We were upgraded to a bigger room when we had some minor issues with our bed and it was done really fast even if it was already 2:00 in the morning.
We were able to relax despite the room transfer. I think it was one of their suites because it almost doubled the size of our previous room and there was a mini kitchen too. Pretty cool. I can probably stay there for a week.
At 6:30AM, we went down to eat breakfast which was included on our hotel accommodation. I must say that their breakfast buffet is pretty impressive. They do not have too many choices but I think that is okay for a breakfast buffet plus Armada is not a five star hotel. Their service at the resto needs improvement tho. We were asked for our room number three times by three different people. Maybe, they lack coordination.
After breakfast, we went to their roof deck to check out the pool. Pool was pretty okay too even if the views are blocked by taller buildings around the area.
I would rate this hotel as 8/10 and I have recommended them to our friends as well. The hotel itself is okay. They just need to improve their customer service. We will definitely come back.
