Dine N Dash

Call me old fashioned but one of the video games that I love is Diner Dash. I got giddy when I was invited for a foodie meet-up at Dine n Dash’s new home at SM Taytay. Their interior looks very Diner Dash although they should really work with their ventilation so customers won’t smell like the pantry after dining in. I couldn’t comment that much about their customer service because I didn’t walk in as a paying customer. I love that they have enough parking space for their customers and that their location isn’t that hard to find.

I was 30 minutes late for the foodie meet-up because of the traffic situation along Ortigas avenue extension at 12nn. Well, don’t fret – this is not the usual scenario in the area. There’s just an ongoing road construction. For some people who are coming from Makati, it’s safe to use the C6 road until the construction is finished.

Among the appetizers that were served, I was able to taste their “Nacho Drive”. I am a fan of chili con carne and nachos so, it’s definitely a new favorite.

Burgers

Dine n Dash have 7 burgers to choose from and each can be served with fries and drinks for an additional P40. My top choices? Fantastic 4 cheese and Texas buffalo. These are not your usual burgers because you can really taste real meat for affordable prices.

Pasta

If you are like me who can eat pasta everyday, then Dine n Dash pasta dishes is a must-try. Their pasta can either be served “solo” or “to share”. My favorites are Seafood Bleu Cheese and Chicken Aglio Olio. They have a hefty serving. Their “to share” serving can feed up to 4 pax (well, that depends on your appetite). Why I love their pasta? The noodles are perfectly cooked and their signature sauces will make you come back for more. Did I mention that their food is affordable? Their dishes are also Instagramable!

Wings!

Choose from classic, hot and spicy, garlic parmesan and barbecue. Of course I always go for spicy wings! Pair it with Chipotle Mayo, Aioli, Blue Cheese or Honey Mustard then you’re good to go.

Entrees

The big fish. Trust me on this, it is really big and it’s only P119! This dish can be served with rice or fries.

Desserts

Thank heavens for oreos and ice cream! You just can’t go wrong with Midnight. I love the texture, the plating and the awesome taste of this dessert. The looks is not too complicated for a dessert but it’s the bomb!

I will definitely come back with Miguel to try out some of their dishes on the menu.

Planet Grapes: Wine without the Drama

Planet Grapes opened it’s EDSA Shangri-la branch last February and since gained a number of patrons. Who wouldn’t love Planet Grapes?

They carry state-of-the-art Italian enomatic machines that allow customers to try different wines by sip, half-glass, and full glass sizes. Yes! It’s a wine vendo. You get to try their wine before you decide to buy a bottle.
Aside from that, they offer an adventurous menu containing foods that perfectly pair with wine. You’ll be surprised because the food that they offer are not commonly associated with wine. I love the ambiance and their interior. Black always has this classy appeal to me.

I was privileged to be invited by Zomato to try out Planet Grapes’ food and wine and to start off, we were served with Chicharon with Tinapa dip.

Yes, you read it right. It’s not mustard but tinapa dip. The tinapa dip gave a yummy twist to our usual chicharon that we are used to dip in vinegar. The dip is also a bit sour. The more dip, the better tasting your chicharon will be. Ever paired chicharon with wine? I did! A glass of Paul Mas Sauvignon Blanc 2012 came with this appetizer and I must say, it’s a match made in heaven.

I am really a fan of Bopis especially when it’s spicy. But I like it with rice tho. Pircas Negras Malbec 2013 was paired with this dish. Well, meat equals to red wine, I’m not really surprised but I really, really love their Bopis and I promise to come back for this.

The chicken BBQ that was served to us were a bit over cooked and some parts were no longer edible because uhm, they already look and tastes like charcoal.

Organic BBQ Pork Spare ribs. Looks good and tastes even better. I am intrigued on how they made this meat so succulent that it literally melts in your mouth. You can choose between mashed potato or adobo rice for this dish. I suggest that you go for adodo rice! Folie a Deux Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 both worked for chicken BBQ and BBQ spare ribs but I didn’t have the courage to finish a glass because the staff said, their going to serve another wine variant.

Dessert! My favorite part. We were served with a dessert platter and Urban Old Vines 2013 to cap the night off.

Turon trilogy is a local dessert made of thinly sliced bananas and ube then drizzled with Langka Caramel sauce. This definitely is a must-try.

Creme Brulee. These were steamed not baked and it comes with three different flavors: Banana. Classic, and Durian. Surprisingly, I find the Durian flavor the yummiest because it’s not too sweet.

Here’s a tip from Planet Grapes for wine virgins.
