Chronicles of a Happy Married Life

Yes, I am childless and it’s none of your business

We live in a world where some people think that they can dictate the best time for you to get married and have kids. Where people are too quick to judge but never wanted to offer help.  It has always been my dream to walk down the aisle wearing a lace gown and carrying tulips. I dream of playing dress up with a baby girl, family trips and even envisioned yearly family photo ops.

Four years after our wedding and here we are sharing one roof with three rescued cats. My vision of having a “perfect family” never happened and I am not sure if it will ever happen. I have been frowned upon by some women when I told them that having babies is not on top of my priorities and was even labeled as a barren woman just because I chose to be childless. While Miguel was perfectly okay with it, I still came to a point when I became too desperate to have a baby. I ditched my contraceptive pills and we even considered adopting a relative’s kid. I was almost convinced that my life is worthless because I couldn’t bear a child. I struggled for months and I am just grateful that Miguel was there to constantly remind me that our marriage still matters to him even without kids. I realized that I should stop worrying about the things that I do not have control of. If I can’t have a baby naturally – then I should just let things be.

Last year, we visited an OB because I had an unusual menstrual cramps. Tests were made and I was told that I am healthy and can conceive anytime (fertile). I had mixed emotions. It came as a surprise because the idea of having a baby no longer excites me.

Two months later, I was not given a permit by our office physician to undergo an X-ray because my period was delayed for more than a month. I was so used to being carefree and not tracking my monthly cycle because I never experienced being pregnant. I was also busy working two jobs. I was helping a friend turned client for an almost pro-bono deal. I thought I was already pregnant but I wasn’t.

Had this happened to me two years ago, it would mean the world to me. I would have been depressed but after all that Miguel and I have been through, I could care less about what people think of me. This is my body, no one can dictate when I should have a baby or if I really should. Because a person who’s truly happy would be so busy minding their own businesses. The people who makes fun of childless couples are people who are inviting you to accompany them with their misery.

I am childless, but I am happy as I chose to be.

Celebrate LOVE month with TravelBook

If you’ve been reading our blog for some time, you already know that Miguel and I had been through a very challenging year and skipped on celebrating some special occasions like Valentine’s day. This year’s Valentine’s Day is going to be extra special because Miguel is already at the pink of health.  I would love to spend this year’s Valentine’s day in a Hotel within the Metro.  I don’t wanna travel that long and deal with our worsening traffic situation.

Miguel and I need some time off and just spend some quality time together, setting aside work and other stuff. Discovering new Hotels is one of the things that we enjoy as a couple. Disconnecting from the real world is healthy and it’s not necessary that you travel that far to do it. Especially that February 14 falls on a week day this year.

Casa de Dios: Review

Have you guys attended a reunion lately? Miguel and I did last December 28, 2016. It was our first time as a couple to host a family event and it was exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. We wanted a rustic themed reunion and it took us months to find the perfect venue.  Miguel came across Casa De Dios’ Facebook page. We were impressed with the photos and immediately had the venue pencil booked before we even had an ocular.

The owner, Nikko de Dios was very accommodating and patient.  I had to change the date of the event twice and didn’t even feel that he was upset. LOL! It wasn’t my intention to cause confusion, some family members just had some last minute requests that I had to consider.

Casa de Dios is located at 14 Cabrera Road, Brgy. Dolores, Taytay, Rizal. It’s about 30 minute drive from Ortigas Center. We booked the venue from 9:00 until midnight for only Php12,000.  The place is cozy and well maintained.  Ideal for intimate gatherings as it can only cater to 50 guests. Aside from the pool, they also have cabanas where you can dine or have some cocktail while chitchatting with your friends and loved ones. Their family room is big enough for 3 double beds. We took turns in taking naps that day. The balcony is not really child-friendly so, I suggest that  you keep your children off this area.

Everything at Casa de Dios is Instagram worthy. My photos doesn’t give this place much justice – you have to see it for yourself. I highly suggest this to people who are looking for a venue for their prenup photo shoot.

They have 3 parking slots so, I suggest car pooling. But if you really cannot avoid bringing your own car, you can safely park right across Casa de Dios ( outside the Memorial park ).

I am planning to hold a reunion with my High School friends and I am considering Casa de Dios for our venue.

Don’t let your dishes drain your wallet

I have been loyal to a dish washing liquid brand for years but I thought trying out a new brand won’t do harm. Especially when it’s way cheaper than what I am currently using but produces the same result.  I hate washing the dishes ever since I was a kid so, I make sure that I do not spend more time doing this chore by using the right product to get the oil and grease off our dishes easily.

All dish-washing liquids in the market can get rid of oil and grease but for me, it’s the time consumed on washing the dishes that matters.  I’ve come across brands that are difficult to rinse off and that for me is not just time consuming but also a waste of precious water. Not ideal, right?

I am glad that I discovered Bubble Man dish washing liquid because I get to spend less time washing the dishes plus, I noticed that the fragrance doesn’t stay on our dishes which may add a weird taste to our food.

Bubble Man dish washing liquid comes in three variants, Antibacterial, Lemon and Kalamansi. I have a thing for anti bacterial products so, It looks Bubble Man and I are going to have a very long relationship.

I prefer using concentrated dish washing liquid but if you prefer a bubble solution, you can mix Bubble Man dish washing liquid with water and additional ingredients such as glycerin and sugar. Yup, it’s that simple.

Did you know that Bubble Man is a proudly PINOY made budget friendly, highly effective kitchen, food premises cleaner and degreaser, safe on virtually all surfaces?

Bubble Man dish washing liquid is now available in all leading supermarket and groceries nationwide. Visit their Facebook page to stay updated with their current promos.

OPPO F1s: Day In The Life

A giant evil monster is about to unleash its most powerful weapon and i’m the only one who can stop it. I quickly jumped into my armor suit, then the alarm clock goes off (god damn it alarm, let me finish my dream).. Watta dream!

So. It’s 6:00 AM. Let me take you along with me so you can have a glimpse of how I spend my day. Along with us is my Handy dandy OPPO F1s to help document our adventure.

I focused on event hosting after I left the BPO industry, and it’s a day and night comparison. I now have control over everything. I can set my schedule based on the lifestyle that I desire.

6:00 AM

I start my day by spending a good 5 mins trying to figure out what my purpose in life is. Just kidding. I just wasted 5 mins doing nothing like most men at my age do. Then I visited the john for some good ol’ 1 & 2. In between 6:30 – 7:00 I check my email while eating breakfast. After a bit of stretching, it’s time to hit the shower.

I have a 10:00 AM meeting with a couple who’s looking for the perfect wedding MC. Why wake up so early? Preppin and driving to the meeting place takes forever specially if you live in the Metro. So, 3 hours of grooming and road hustlin would be just enough to get to my destination on time.

Its almost noon and I got the hosting gig. I am now off to meet with my coordinating team for an ocular. we have a garden wedding in Tagaytay city early next month and I would like to see and be able to project my movements, so
I won’t have to do it on the day of the event. the time is 12:22 PM and this is going to be a long drive.

03:51 PM. We finally arrived at the reception venue, and boy, it was one heck of a sight. I immediately planned my movements and gimmicks for the event. Now we’re going to sit down for a quick run-through of the program over a cup of coffee.

05:25 PM. It’s getting dark and sadly we have to drive back to the chaotic world of the Metro.

Since we won’t be able to make it tonight for some home-cooked meal, we’ll just have our dinner at our favorite Japanese resto before we go home.

I no longer carry a planner notebook with my daily activities. I realized that everything that I need is already baked in on my OPPO F1s. I depend on it a lot. From waking me up, setting up my schedule, taking notes, reading and sending emails, and even navigation. Aside from its kick ass 16mp selfie shooter, I also thank OPPO for slammin this phone with a more than decent chip set. MT6750 Octa-core 64-bit and 3GB ram. In layman’s term, It’s ridiculously fast. Plus 32GB of internal storage is more than enough storage for my daily photos, music and games(when i’m bored), and did I already mention that it’s ridiculously fast?

It’s 9:52 PM we’re finally home and ready to hit the bed. So let’s call it a day.

Til our next adventure. Cheers!

Migs.

Importance of the RSVP

I remember feeling so guilty when Migs and I were not able to attend a close friend’s wedding last year. Migs was hospitalized days before our friend’s big day and it was too late for them to scratch us out of their wedding list. Although he understood our predicament, I still feel sorry because he paid for two buffet plates for us and we weren’t able to show up.

What is an  RSVP and why is it so important?

According to Forbes Magazine, Répondez s’il vous plaît, is a French phrase that translates to “please respond.” It is with this meaning that invitation cards and similar documents are often marked with “RSVP.” It is standard practice to reply to an RSVP request whether confirming attendance or declining.

Our wedding took place in Antipolo City last December 12, 2012. It was a Wednesday and we expected excuses like work schedule, meetings, etc. So, we made sure that our Wedding was announced to our relatives one year in advance and 6 months in advance for friends and colleagues. For some, they even make Save-the-date videos while finalizing stuff on their big day.  We only invited 150 guests but unfortunately, there were still some who responded to our RSVP on the same day of our Wedding despite the efforts of our Wedding coordinators. The sad part is, we still paid for their food even if they weren’t around.

These days, you pay a minimum of Php1,500 per plate for a decent food in Metro Manila event places or hotels. In receiving invites, remember that a couple thought of you first to celebrate their special day with them.  Making them feel that their invitation is not important to you by not responding to the RSVP, might leave scars on your relationships.

If you really can’t make it, let them know at least a month or two weeks before the event so, they have the option to replace you on their list or even save money. Your friends as a couple are starting their lives together and if you can’t make it because of some valid reasons or you’re simply not into events – let them know. It will only take few seconds of your time.

Remember that not responding to an RSVP is just as worst as gatecrashing a wedding.

OPPO F1s: Capturing Philippines

I spent 20+ years in Antipolo but it was only when I got older that I truly appreciate my hometown. I left Antipolo when I decided to become independent at the age of 21. Whenever I come home, I always see improvements in the city that has helped me become who I am now.  I can travel the whole world but I will always come home to my hometown. It will always be my favorite destination. Antipolo City became known because of the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage and “Hinulugang Taktak“. A lot of my relatives and friends visit the Antipolo Cathedral whenever they have business trips abroad or when they finally decided to migrate somewhere else. It has been a culture for some people to seek guidance on their trips at the Cathedral. It is also the perfect destination for people who just bought brand new cars for a test drive and even “car blessing”.

What’s not to love about Antipolo? The weather is perfect for flowers to bloom but not too cold to enjoy a pool party with friends. The famous Pinto Art Museum where countless numbers of prenup photo shoots took place can be found in Antipolo. The city is also slowly transforming into a foodie destination because of the restaurants and coffee shops that pops up here and there. Antipolo is the best alternative for Tagaytay when you want to have a garden wedding but wouldn’t want to travel for hours. My husband and I tied the knot in Callospa Resort last 2012 and our wedding was picture perfect!

Last weekend, we discovered Cafe Agusta a newly opened Coffee shop at the heart of the city and it’s overlooking view of Metro Manila is breathtaking! I couldn’t help but snap photos. Good thing I have my Oppo F1s with me. I am so in love with it’s 16-megapixel front camera because I don’t need to ask strangers to take photos of Migs and I. I even posted a short video clip of our view on our Instagram account.

How about you? What’s your favorite destination? We’d love to hear from you.

Achieving a healthy liver made simpler

Well, most of you know that Miguel just recovered from Tuberculosis which spread to his liver. Isn’t it ironic that a man who never smoked all this life acquired tuberculosis that it became too bad that it had to reach his liver? I can still recall how we spent days and nights at The Medical City hoping and praying that it’s just Tuberculosis and not Cancer.

For six months, Miguel’s liver has been working so hard because of the medicines that he need to take. To be honest, I’ve never paid much attention to my liver until my husband got sick. It’s about time to return the favor to his liver by supplementing it with LiverMarin.

Why LiverMarin?

LiverMarin is specifically made to aid our liver with its Silymarin and Sodium Ascorbate compounds. Here are the benefits of Silymarin and Sodium ascorbate:

Silymarin – Is an anti-fibrotic which helps avoid tissue scarring. It also blocks the toxins away  from our body, away from our liver.

  • It regenerates liver cells damaged by alcohol or drugs.
  • It protects us against industrial poisons.
  • It is a good antioxidant

Sodium ascorbate – Has general immune boosting properties. It helps prevent the body from  getting diseases.

  • Has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties which aids in protecting the body from harmful diseases.
  • Is essential for the body to be able to synthesize collagen, which is an essential component of connective tissues.

LiverMarin only cost Php7.50 per piece. See, you don’t have to break the bank to make your liver healthy. You just have to have a proper diet and choose the right supplement. LiverMarin is available at all Mercury Drugstores so, you have no reason not to take care of your liver!

How about you guys, what steps are you taking to ensure that you have a healthy liver?

Why I chose Dearberry

Hi, ladies!

I am not a fan of makeup as I haven’t tried one that doesn’t make my skin oily or feel heavy. Most of the makeup that I have are branded and were given to me as gifts or “pasalubong” from relatives who live outside the Philippines. I am the type who’s contented in using sunblock and lip gloss everyday. I don’t even follow a certain skin care routine because I am just too lazy to apply stuff on my face and body.

But as I age, I feel my skin screaming for moisturizer and I envy women who doesn’t need the help of a professional make-up artist when attending events. Before I finally committed to be the Marketing Manager of Dearberry Philippines, I tried the products first to see if it suits my skin type. Because if the products are too heavy for my skin, I’ll end up not using them again and there is no sense in selling a brand that I personally do not believe in.

Who is Dearberry Philippines and what convinced me to use their products?

Mar.1956 JULIA Co Ltd, the parent company of FINE Bio Inc was founded JULIA, the parent company of FINE Bio, was founded in 1956 by Jung Family just 3 years after the Korean War. The Jung’s started their business from a tiny shop in Seoul with three products and one big dream. The dream ws to make better cosmetic products in quality with affordable price for Korean people who had to start everything from nothing after the war.
This philosophy has been kept strongly for the past 58 years and melted in dearberry as historical company heritage

DEARBERRY products are manufactured by such top-tier factories like COSMAX and WINNOVA to achieve the high quality standards of our products. COSMAX is the main & most important manufacturer of L’OREAL group and other world famous branded cosmetics. WINNOVA is the main & most important manufacturer of Korean branded cosmetics like TONYMOLY & THEFACESHOP.

The brand essence of dearberry is “affordable high quality cosmetics made with ingredients from nature ”. dearberry believes the simple truth, “healthy skin is most beautiful” and sticks to the basics, “firstly keep skin healthy, then optimally solve target issues”.

Dearberry products are specifically made for the Asian skin and they do not test their products on animals! I have pets at home so, I am 100% against brands who still do animal testing. When I learned these facts, I immediately sat down on my desk, opened my laptop and researched on different ways of how to effectively promote Dearberry to its target markets. I even convinced some relatives and friends to ditch their current brands for Dearberry.

Here are my Top 5 Dearberry Makeup favorites
