Your Ultimate Summer Pampering Destination Nailaholics Nail Salon and Spa

Summer is coming. That means hot weather, beach time, shorts, sandals, sundresses–and lots of it. The question is, are you ready?

Not to worry though, we’ve got you covered. Nailaholics, the city’s top urban nail and pampering destination in the country, has been everyone’s go-to destination for the season, so here’s a run-down of things-to-do to keep your skin, tips, and toes summer ready.

Prepare for sandal-season

Over the holidays, when the wind blew colder and your legs and feet were clad in tights and boots, it was easy to miss your regular waxing and pedicure appointments. But summer means trading in your warmer outfits for colorful shorts and summer skirts, paired with your favorite flip-flops or sandals. Book an appointment for a pedicure ASAP and jumpstart the season with a waxing session to get your stems ready.

Get ready for summer outfits

Legs are a major focus during summer that it’s easy to forget your arms need attention too. Because of the weather, you’ll be baring your arms and shoulders as soon as the wind blows a little warmer. Get them in perfect summer shape by booking a moisturizing treatment, followed by a manicure. Be sure to choose a bright hue on your nails to complement the season.

Make sure you’re super Summer-ready

Before you head off for your summer adventure, get yourself primed for the season by getting a head to toe buff and polish. Get Vitamin Sea: Manicure, Pedicure and Foot Spa to stimulate blood flow and leave skin glowing. Be sure to moisturize post treatment by keeping a bottle of Argan oil handy.

Post-holiday Pampering Day

A visit to your favorite nail salon isn’t just for pre-holiday beach trips; sometimes, you need vacation from your vacation too.Summer means crowded airports, cramped flights, long road trips—and you’ll need to unwind after. Choose from our menu of spa treatments so that you not only get to relax, you also make sure you’re prepped and ready to go for your next vacation.

KanTalk: Dutertrolls Unite

We can’t believe that it has almost been a year since the last Presidential elections. Maybe some of you are very vocal with your Political views and may have lost friends along the way. We have also lost a handful of friends when we chose to campaign for the DuCay tandem (Duterte-Cayetano). Some raised eyebrows, some unfriended us or even blocked us after seeing a series of posts on our Social Media accounts. We also got caught up in some heated arguments which we do not take personally. We have our own bets, our own biases and we respect everyone the same way that we wanted to be respected.

But, we always stand up on our beliefs when needed. I (Alaine) never supported LP because I am not fully convinced with Ninoy’s heroism. One of my uncles was the one who carried his dead body at the airport along with other soldiers. They were all put to jail for more than 20 years. These soldiers  along with their family members suffered for two decades for a crime who knows who committed. When the late Cory Aquino became president due to snap elections, the Aquino-Galman case was not even resolved.

When Noynoy Aquino became our President, we didn’t post nasty things about him on our Social Media accounts, in fact  we did a lot of research about the things that he has done and still doing as our President. I would say some are impressive. But when these issues about Yolanda TyphoonHacienda Luisita, Lumad Killings,  and SAF44 took place, we began doubting his intentions.  Didn’t he promise that we, as citizens will be his boss? We were also turned off with how he enjoyed blaming the former President Gloria Macapal-Arroyo for every negative thing that has happened to our country.

When Duterte finally announced that he is running for President – just like every responsible citizen did, we researched. We asked people that we know from Davao City to make sure that the news about him are true. Miguel spent his teenage years in Taguig City sans our support for Cayetano.

We couldn’t fathom how and why would a certain political party would accuse a Social media influencer or blogger a troll for voicing out his or her opinions.

Quoting Atty. Darwin Cañete‘s facebook post last February 11, 2017.

Accusing President Duterte of paying bloggers betrays gross ignorance of the man. If he were to pay anyone, it would be mainstream media. Bloggers are, numbers aside, untested investments. A payolaed reporter guarantees column space and favorable airtime. Not to mention the guy is a notorious cheapskate and doesn’t care about what you write about him. Now, those anonymous anti-Duterte websites and pages? Someone funds them. You can bet your ass on that one. ”

Have they forgotten about Freedom of Expression?

We have so much respect for bloggers like Sass Rogando Sasot, Rj Nieto of Thinking Pinoy and Mocha Uson that we didn’t let the opportunity of joining them in a live KanTalk pass us by. It was a chance for us to learn more things about the Government and our Laws since one of the guests was Atty. Rose Beatrix “Trixie” Cruz-Angeles. Dra. Lorraine Marie Badoy, the newly appointed DSWD Assistant Secretary also graced the event.

KanTalk was the very first political event that we attended and we’re very thankful for the wisdom that were imparted to us. As Social Media influencers, they reminded us to respect other people’s freedom of expression whether or not they agree with our beliefs. Because at the end of the day, we are all Filipinos and should care for whatever is good for our country and the next generation.

We were also encouraged to take a stand on issues by calling the attention of our local government officers like Mayors and Congressmen. 95% of the attendees were professionals – Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers and Nurses to name a few.

Contrary to what the other mainstream media reported, through the effort of RJ Nieto, Social Media influencers  (anti or pro Duterte) can sign up to be a member of Malacañang’s Social Media Press Corps.

It’s about time to prove who the real trolls are. Everyone should come out and stop hiding under the cloak of anonymity unless, they have a different intention other than making the Philippines a better country.

Fantastic Scents And Where To Buy Them

Hey, lovely wives! Have you decided what perfume or cologne to wear this Valentine’s day? If you’re like me who prefer perfume that are not too strong, I have some recommendations for you  that I am sure you and your husband will love.

Jo Malone Wild Bluebell

The scent is so delicate yet mesmerizing. Although it is quite pricey for a cologne ($130/100ml), it still is my favorite everyday scent. It’s so feminine and it smells like you just got off the shower.

Lanvin Eclat

I discovered this scent when one of my friends wore this on her Wedding day.  The scent is as elegant as its bottle. The scent is very warm and inviting. Your husband will definitely fall in love with you all over again.

Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline EDT

Florary and woody at the same time. Just the right smell to match a little red dress. I usually wear this scent whenever I have client meetings.

That ends my Top 3 recommended Valentine’s Scents. What about you?  Do you still rely on the current weather to choose which scent to wear? I used to do that too before I came across these three brands. Now, I don’t have to collect too many scents and end up not using them for a long time because either the scent is too “summery” or too formal for a lunch date. These scents are so versatile and can definitely be worn on any occasions.

There are some online stores selling these scents for discounted prices. My favorite online shop so far is The Leather House PH.

Order thru their Shopee account to avail free shipping fee and Cash on Delivery.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yes, I am childless and it’s none of your business

We live in a world where some people think that they can dictate the best time for you to get married and have kids. Where people are too quick to judge but never wanted to offer help.  It has always been my dream to walk down the aisle wearing a lace gown and carrying tulips. I dream of playing dress up with a baby girl, family trips and even envisioned yearly family photo ops.

Four years after our wedding and here we are sharing one roof with three rescued cats. My vision of having a “perfect family” never happened and I am not sure if it will ever happen. I have been frowned upon by some women when I told them that having babies is not on top of my priorities and was even labeled as a barren woman just because I chose to be childless. While Miguel was perfectly okay with it, I still came to a point when I became too desperate to have a baby. I ditched my contraceptive pills and we even considered adopting a relative’s kid. I was almost convinced that my life is worthless because I couldn’t bear a child. I struggled for months and I am just grateful that Miguel was there to constantly remind me that our marriage still matters to him even without kids. I realized that I should stop worrying about the things that I do not have control of. If I can’t have a baby naturally – then I should just let things be.

Last year, we visited an OB because I had an unusual menstrual cramps. Tests were made and I was told that I am healthy and can conceive anytime (fertile). I had mixed emotions. It came as a surprise because the idea of having a baby no longer excites me.

Two months later, I was not given a permit by our office physician to undergo an X-ray because my period was delayed for more than a month. I was so used to being carefree and not tracking my monthly cycle because I never experienced being pregnant. I was also busy working two jobs. I was helping a friend turned client for an almost pro-bono deal. I thought I was already pregnant but I wasn’t.

Had this happened to me two years ago, it would mean the world to me. I would have been depressed but after all that Miguel and I have been through, I could care less about what people think of me. This is my body, no one can dictate when I should have a baby or if I really should. Because a person who’s truly happy would be so busy minding their own businesses. The people who makes fun of childless couples are people who are inviting you to accompany them with their misery.

I am childless, but I am happy as I chose to be.

Celebrate LOVE month with TravelBook

If you’ve been reading our blog for some time, you already know that Miguel and I had been through a very challenging year and skipped on celebrating some special occasions like Valentine’s day. This year’s Valentine’s Day is going to be extra special because Miguel is already at the pink of health.  I would love to spend this year’s Valentine’s day in a Hotel within the Metro.  I don’t wanna travel that long and deal with our worsening traffic situation.

Miguel and I need some time off and just spend some quality time together, setting aside work and other stuff. Discovering new Hotels is one of the things that we enjoy as a couple. Disconnecting from the real world is healthy and it’s not necessary that you travel that far to do it. Especially that February 14 falls on a week day this year.

Casa de Dios: Review

Have you guys attended a reunion lately? Miguel and I did last December 28, 2016. It was our first time as a couple to host a family event and it was exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. We wanted a rustic themed reunion and it took us months to find the perfect venue.  Miguel came across Casa De Dios’ Facebook page. We were impressed with the photos and immediately had the venue pencil booked before we even had an ocular.

The owner, Nikko de Dios was very accommodating and patient.  I had to change the date of the event twice and didn’t even feel that he was upset. LOL! It wasn’t my intention to cause confusion, some family members just had some last minute requests that I had to consider.

Casa de Dios is located at 14 Cabrera Road, Brgy. Dolores, Taytay, Rizal. It’s about 30 minute drive from Ortigas Center. We booked the venue from 9:00 until midnight for only Php12,000.  The place is cozy and well maintained.  Ideal for intimate gatherings as it can only cater to 50 guests. Aside from the pool, they also have cabanas where you can dine or have some cocktail while chitchatting with your friends and loved ones. Their family room is big enough for 3 double beds. We took turns in taking naps that day. The balcony is not really child-friendly so, I suggest that  you keep your children off this area.

Everything at Casa de Dios is Instagram worthy. My photos doesn’t give this place much justice – you have to see it for yourself. I highly suggest this to people who are looking for a venue for their prenup photo shoot.

They have 3 parking slots so, I suggest car pooling. But if you really cannot avoid bringing your own car, you can safely park right across Casa de Dios ( outside the Memorial park ).

I am planning to hold a reunion with my High School friends and I am considering Casa de Dios for our venue.

Don’t let your dishes drain your wallet

I have been loyal to a dish washing liquid brand for years but I thought trying out a new brand won’t do harm. Especially when it’s way cheaper than what I am currently using but produces the same result.  I hate washing the dishes ever since I was a kid so, I make sure that I do not spend more time doing this chore by using the right product to get the oil and grease off our dishes easily.

All dish-washing liquids in the market can get rid of oil and grease but for me, it’s the time consumed on washing the dishes that matters.  I’ve come across brands that are difficult to rinse off and that for me is not just time consuming but also a waste of precious water. Not ideal, right?

I am glad that I discovered Bubble Man dish washing liquid because I get to spend less time washing the dishes plus, I noticed that the fragrance doesn’t stay on our dishes which may add a weird taste to our food.

Bubble Man dish washing liquid comes in three variants, Antibacterial, Lemon and Kalamansi. I have a thing for anti bacterial products so, It looks Bubble Man and I are going to have a very long relationship.

I prefer using concentrated dish washing liquid but if you prefer a bubble solution, you can mix Bubble Man dish washing liquid with water and additional ingredients such as glycerin and sugar. Yup, it’s that simple.

Did you know that Bubble Man is a proudly PINOY made budget friendly, highly effective kitchen, food premises cleaner and degreaser, safe on virtually all surfaces?

Bubble Man dish washing liquid is now available in all leading supermarket and groceries nationwide. Visit their Facebook page to stay updated with their current promos.

OPPO F1s: Day In The Life

A giant evil monster is about to unleash its most powerful weapon and i’m the only one who can stop it. I quickly jumped into my armor suit, then the alarm clock goes off (god damn it alarm, let me finish my dream).. Watta dream!

So. It’s 6:00 AM. Let me take you along with me so you can have a glimpse of how I spend my day. Along with us is my Handy dandy OPPO F1s to help document our adventure.

I focused on event hosting after I left the BPO industry, and it’s a day and night comparison. I now have control over everything. I can set my schedule based on the lifestyle that I desire.

6:00 AM

I start my day by spending a good 5 mins trying to figure out what my purpose in life is. Just kidding. I just wasted 5 mins doing nothing like most men at my age do. Then I visited the john for some good ol’ 1 & 2. In between 6:30 – 7:00 I check my email while eating breakfast. After a bit of stretching, it’s time to hit the shower.

I have a 10:00 AM meeting with a couple who’s looking for the perfect wedding MC. Why wake up so early? Preppin and driving to the meeting place takes forever specially if you live in the Metro. So, 3 hours of grooming and road hustlin would be just enough to get to my destination on time.

Its almost noon and I got the hosting gig. I am now off to meet with my coordinating team for an ocular. we have a garden wedding in Tagaytay city early next month and I would like to see and be able to project my movements, so
I won’t have to do it on the day of the event. the time is 12:22 PM and this is going to be a long drive.

03:51 PM. We finally arrived at the reception venue, and boy, it was one heck of a sight. I immediately planned my movements and gimmicks for the event. Now we’re going to sit down for a quick run-through of the program over a cup of coffee.

05:25 PM. It’s getting dark and sadly we have to drive back to the chaotic world of the Metro.

Since we won’t be able to make it tonight for some home-cooked meal, we’ll just have our dinner at our favorite Japanese resto before we go home.

I no longer carry a planner notebook with my daily activities. I realized that everything that I need is already baked in on my OPPO F1s. I depend on it a lot. From waking me up, setting up my schedule, taking notes, reading and sending emails, and even navigation. Aside from its kick ass 16mp selfie shooter, I also thank OPPO for slammin this phone with a more than decent chip set. MT6750 Octa-core 64-bit and 3GB ram. In layman’s term, It’s ridiculously fast. Plus 32GB of internal storage is more than enough storage for my daily photos, music and games(when i’m bored), and did I already mention that it’s ridiculously fast?

It’s 9:52 PM we’re finally home and ready to hit the bed. So let’s call it a day.

Til our next adventure. Cheers!

Migs.
