We have been thinking of swapping our sedan to a bigger car, a pick-up truck to be specific.
We’ve been to different showrooms but were astounded with how much money you need to shell out to be able to drive a decent pick-up.
So, we started reading car forums to see what China has to offer and we’ve seen FOTON being used for government fleet vehicles. MMDA is using the Foton blizzard and a lot of ambulances speeding our highways are also built by Foton just to mention a few. Migs is also a fan of “MIC” vehicles as his favorite bike/motorcycle is a China made sports bike.
The FOTON Thunder caught our attention. This monster looks way better and bigger than those overpriced trucks from their counterparts, aesthetically and built wise, and it comes with a very reasonable price tag.
But what convinced us that the FOTON Thunder can play along with the rest of the competitors are the internals. The engine is made by Cummins and the transmission is made by Getrag. Cummins supplies engines for a number of companies, and is well-known for its large truck engines, as seen in Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, and Volvo trucks. Getrag is a top-tier transmission supplier for companies like Mitsubishi, Ford,Volkswagen, and BMW.
All that’s missing now is a test drive to know how the truck feels.
